Was ist ein Haiku?

Year 9 has been writng haikus in their lesson.

But what is a haiku? It is a Japanese poetry form. A haiku uses just a few words to capture a moment and create a picture in the reader's mind. It is like a tiny window into a scene much larger than itself. Traditionally, haiku is written in three lines:

five syllables
seven syllables
five syllables

An example:

Ferien sind toll
Mit Freunden gehe ich weg
Der Sommer ist schön

The Y9's will be publishing their haikus as comments. Enjoy reading!
